Wands - The Finished Product!

So I have finished painting mine and this is what I have. First I painted on a base coat, and then I used some metallic colors to accent them. I also finish my wands with a clear glaze. I use FolkArt's High Shine Glaze, mainly to prevent the paint from flaking off the glue. Not sure if that actually happens, but I prepared for it anyway. You can skip this step and probably be fine, especially if you don't want the wands to be too shiny.

Also, if you use larger diameter dowels, you may want to shave down the point a bit with a sharp knife, but not too pointy that you risk loosing an eye. I know when you give any Potter fans a wand, they all adopt the mentality of five year old's, myself included, so personal injury is always a concern.

So get out there and be creative. The possibilities are endless, so I'd love to see what ya'll made!

DIY HP Wands!

Wandspiration...

Good morning Yall!!!

I know that you all are obsessed with Harry Potter. There are tons of tutorials out-there for a variety of HP themed DIYs. Today I want to share with you one of my favorite HP DIYs - Wands!!! Wands are a very important aspect of the magical wizarding world and make great gifts, which is what I wound up giving some of my friends for Christmas. It's a really simple process, and you probably have all the supplies at home.

So here's what you need: hot glue gun, glue, wooden dowels, and paint. I used 12inch dowels that I bought  pre-cut in a pack of 12 for under a dollar, I found that 1/4" dowels tend to work best, but 3/16" and 5/16" also are a decent size. Also, when making these, you can go through a lot of glue, so be sure you have enough on hand.

It's a really simple process, just use the hot glue to create the shape of the wand. There are a lot of different ways you can style your wands. Be creative, and just finish up by painting your wands. I used acrylic paints and accented with metallics, but I haven't gotten around to painting these yet. I'll update you when I do.

In the meantime, I'll be posting another tutorial soon, so if you have any feedback as to how I can do this better, I'd appreciate it, and I'd love to see what yall make!

Get Organized - Calendars

Everyone loves free stuff, especially things that are useful. If it has the added benefit of being cute, then it's awesome :) Every week I am going to try and have something free, some sort of printable awesomness that I stumbled upon recently in the vastness of the internet.

This week I want to share with you my favorite FREE calendars. All you have to do is go to their respective sites and print 'em off. They're useful and cute.

Enjoy!

Creative Mamma has a great, colorful one that I'm using to keep track of my schoolwork.

I also love that she has extra weekly and daily agendas for those of us who are super busy!

This one is brought to you from Tomkat Studio

I hope you are able to find one that suits your tastes and needs.

Let me know if you have anything you would like to see show up in this section. I'm always open to ideas and suggestions, and your comments are highly welcome.

Have a good week.

What's the Deal?

Good morning Yall!
That's probably the first thing you should know about me. I always say morning, regardless of the time of day. No, I'm not delusional, I just find it awkward to greet someone with afternoon or evening, and what do you do if it's past evening? So I avoid all of that, and just use morning. I also stopped counting my birthdays at seventeen, so maybe I am delusional....

Next thing you should know is I am quirky, perhaps to the extreme, which you have probably already figured out. I am a procrastinating perfectionist and a range of other conundrums, which causes me to have umpteen projects going on at one time in various stages of completion.

This blog is going to be a chronicle of my crafting adventures. Enjoy!
